Build A Targeted News Or Blog Site In 4 Steps

Some of the most successful news sites or blog sites are highly targeted websites, aiming for a specific type of market. You can learn how to build a targeted news or blog site in 4 steps and this post will tell you how to do it.

Why do you want to create a specific website?

This is because specific sites are more likely to attract search engine traffic, more likely to get passed along within a community and also attract higher-paying advertisers than more generic websites.

Here’s how to start a targeted news or blog site in 4 steps.

1) Select a Specific Topic or Area of Interest

The more specific you can get, the better.

Instead of “online business” which is a hugely crowded market, a much more specific website would be a blog about “raising venture capital for an online business.”

You’ll need to go deep into the market and offer an attractive solution to your potential customer. For example, online business marketing software site targeting specifically on marketing software for online business.

You can also target specific locations. For example, “New York Restaurant Blog” has a very good chance of making its way around the NY foodie network.

2) Stay on Top of Current Events in Your Field

It’s crucial if you’re blogging about a specific interest that you stay on top of the industry. There are a few ways to do this.

The first is to subscribe to RSS feeds from various blogs in your industry. Whenever a piece of news hits one of these blogs, you should be the first to know.

You can also use a news and website aggregator to stay on top of non-blog websites.

3) Write with Personality and Insight

Let your personality out and let your thoughts be known. In many markets, what’s being talked about has been beaten to death so many times that people choose blogs based more on the personality than the news they carry.

Of course, you still have to provide Grade A content. This often comes in the form of your own personal insights rather than just facts.

One great example is Gary Vaynerchuk. His personality is so interesting and so insulting that people can’t help but read the entire website or watch his videos – and by that time, they feel like they have to buy.

4) Apply Proven Marketing Techniques

Make your website search engine friendly. Start building an email list. Find other people in your industry that you can partner with.

Add Google AdSense and ShareASale to start monetizing your site to start with; but don’t underestimate what others would be willing to pay for an ad placement on a prominent site in a specific industry.

Add Clickbank and Amazon products banners onto your website. Both programs are free to apply to get affiliate links.

Search for affiliate products in your own market and promote them.

For example, if you own a health website, you might be getting $5 CPM from Market Health. But an advertiser who sees your site as good branding to be associated with might be willing to pay as much as $15 CPM – sometimes more.

Starting a targeted news or blog site is a great way to build a solid reputation in an industry. You can make more money than a broader website, with less work to boot.

Connecting With Your Target Market Fast

Do you know how to connect with your target market? Beside the need to understand the market, what else do you need to do in order to connect with your target market?

Before you connect with them, you must first be able to understand their pains and problems. This enables you to be able to recommend the best solution to them which in turn helps to increase your sales conversion.

Ultimately, you want to be able to build a strong relationship with your target market.

So how do you connect and talk to your market?

The more you can know their hearts and souls, their problems and desires, the more you are able to reach out to them.

Hence it is very important to research effectively on your target market. Here are 3 way that will help you learn more about your market, fast!

A) Yahoo! Answers

Search Yahoo! Answers for related questions on your market. For example, if you are teaching people how to make money online, you might wish to search these phrases:

“Work from home”

“Internet business”

“Online income”

“Make money online”

And many more..

Read the questions and you should be able to discover a certain trend. There might be some questions that people are always asking.

If people are always asking the same usual question, then it gives you the hint that many people are looking for an answer to this question.

So, if you can help to solve this question, won’t you be able to help them and in the process receive monetary benefits for helping them?

That is how you can connect with your target market fast – By giving them what they are looking for.

Also, check out questions that are consistently unanswered. It tells you what are some of the biggest problems that your market may have but at the same time do not have a solution for it.

This might be a potential niche for you to uncover.

B. Search For Related Forums

Go and search for forums that your market is in. It is easy to do it. Just search “Your Market + Forum” on Google.

Next, check out a few forums and this: Scroll to the bottom of the forums and set the forum to search by “Most Replied” threads.

It will give you the list of topics that your market is very interested in.

Another advantage about forums is that it gives you the insight on the market’s sentiments and the current hot topic.

Knowing this helps you to relate and connect to your market more easily.

C. RSS Feeds

Subscribe to popular RSS Feeds by finding the most popular blogs in your market.

This helps you to stay in front of the market by knowing the latest updates and news.

It also helps to give you a range of different perspectives of the market.

By adopting the 3 methods above, it will provide you with a deep and wide knowledge about your market. You will know what drives them, their problems and pressing hot issues.

You don’t want to build just a customer-relationship but a deeper relationship whereby you are like a friend to them who can confide in you with their problems.

That is REAL connection.

This way, you’ll build trust and be able to connect with your market instantly.

Why Do You Need To Invest In An Internet Business

Are you sitting on your desk and looking at the clock every 5 minutes or wondering when will the day ends so that you can leave the office?

Or do you dread opening your eyes in the morning due to the endless amount of work that is waiting for you?

This happened to me exactly 20 years ago.

I decided to “change” my life.

I saw the power of the internet and the attractiveness of earning money online from home and dived right in.

But I did not make a cent for 5 years.

I realised that I was still stuck in an employee mentality and looking for an easy way out. Out of desperation, I simply my formula and focus working on it.

I began to treat it like a real business which operated from home.

Things changed and I got my first sale and the rest was history.

Ever since, I had been encouraging and teaching students from all over the world to start their online business.

By investing into an internet home based business, you can avoid all the negative things associated with going to the office everyday.

Most people dream of a home based job not only because it offers them an opportunity to work at home but also because of it financial rewards.

There are many home based job but I encourage you to operate an internet business instead.

Own the internet business so that you can truly be free. Even if you love your job, use the internet business to supplement your income so that you can enjoy life.

I am not sure where you are reading this post from but from where I am in Singapore, the cost of living has rose significantly.

However, the income level has not increased at the same pace.

Do you ever find yourself scrolling through the Facebook timeline and seeing your friends posting their holiday or enjoying delicious meals and that you are envying them?

The truth is that while income level has not increased much, our wants have increased due to the usage of social media.

Now, if you are willing to learn and grow your own internet business. Things can change for the better.

Internet business affords one all the freedom to do as he pleases and to operate his business using his own style and skills.

In addition, an internet business requires little capital and low overhead. You do not need expensive rentals or additional facilities cost. All you need is internet connection and a computer or laptop.

If you are an employee, you get a fixed amount of pay no matter how much effort you put in. But if you invest in your internet business and grow it, you will reap greater rewards and satisfaction.

Lastly, you do not need to do this full time. You can start by using your free time first and then slowly grow it.

Ultimately it is your business and you decide the pace of the growth.

Once the revenue from your internet business is greater than your fixed pay, you are more than welcome to invest more time to grow your online business larger.

How To Get A Share Out Of A Profitable Market

The very first thing to start an internet business is to choose a niche. The niche is the market that your internet business will be doing business with.

In order to choose a niche, I always suggest that you find a profitable niche first instead of going for something that you have interest or passion in.

The reason is simple, you are in the business to make money and your interest or passion may not be as profitable as you think. If your interest is a profitable market, great for you!

Try to go for the evergreen niches such as health, wealth and relationship. Having said that, these markets are huge and highly competitive as they are very profitable.

So, be a smart marketer and cut out a small slice out of these large profitable markets for yourself.

Here is a simple guideline on how you can do it.

1. Go To Where The Money Is

As mentioned earlier, go for these evergreen niches because there are always consumers who want to improve these areas of their lives.

These markets will never die. Instead of reinventing the wheel and choosing an unproven market or what you think is profitable, the trick is here is to carve a slice out of the pie and make it yours.

2. Selecting Your Slice

The next step is to focus on a specific niche and pick a specialty. That specialty should be a gap in the market.

This is where the money is made.

For example, if there is a lot of buzz about bitcoin investment but there is little education to educate the investors the need to have an ewallet to safeguard their bitcoins, then you can go into this specific niche and offer them a solution. Explain to them why there is a need for an ewallet and offer a ewallet solution.

Another example is overweight vegetarians. This could be another great slice out of the lose weight market.

The key is to find a gap in a large market where you can have something unique to offer to them and solve their potential problem.

Do not based on just your pure instincts. Please do your fair diligence to research and understand the market.

3. Build A Personal Brand or Company Brand Around It

Once you had selected, researched and determined the slice of the market that you want to target, the next step is to choose a few keywords.

Then, create a website and put 100% of your effort into content creation. Consistently produce valuable content based on your keywords.

This is to help you build your reputation and then attract visitors to your website.

You can also approach potential partners or authority sites to work with them too. Also, work on your social media presence so that you can also provide some social proof.

Carving a slice of a larger pie takes time, but the profit potential makes it all worth it. Find an aspect of a large and profitable market that’s under represented, and become the authority for that slice of the market.

Sales Funnels 101

Ever wondered why, when you go to any fast food restaurant, say for example KFC, you’re constantly bombarded with additional questions even when all you want is a simple 2 piece chicken meal?

Buying anything from your local stores will never be the same if the person selling you whatever it is that you’re looking for, didn’t try to push for additional sales and promotions.

This is what is commonly known as a sales funnel. It is a simple concept that is poorly understood by many marketers, both online and offline. If you would like to learn more, all you have to do is to just keep reading.

What’s A Funnel?

A funnel is a visualized representation of the sales process that allows you to turn a prospect into a sale, and that sale into more sales and actions.

For example, if Mcdonalds is looking to run an aggressive promotion by offering 5 dollar meals as a time limited deal, they can get more customers into their store. These customers will then be subjected to the full extent of the Mcdonalds sales funnel in order for Mcdonalds to maximize their sales, and in turn, their profits.

Sure, they may lose three dollars on their promotion, but they make make that money back if the customer buys a large coke and then adds a Mcflurry on top of their existing order.

Why Use Funnels?

A funnel provides your business with a simple, standardized process that would allow your business to properly implement the steps needed to convert fresh customers or fresh leads into customers that have sat through a few upsells or have been asked for a few actions to be done. Essentially, we want to increase each customer lifetime value.

Firstly, you know what to do in a few common scenarios. Some leads may have absolutely no idea what they would like to purchase, and sometimes it may be up to you to suggest a product or service to solve their problem.

Having a funnel would allow you to know exactly what you need to do next. Additionally, you will know exactly what you would need in order to get or ditch the lead.

Not only that, but this allows for further testing. If a lead is not willing to perform an action, say, give you their email address and phone number, you can make a test of your own and find out why.

What Else Can You Do With Funnels?

With Funnels, you can now provide a standard sales script to your customers and allow them to be completely used by all of the processes that you have set up.

For example, an ice cream store wants to set up its own funnel. When the customer enters the store, the staff will now have a simple script that they can refer to in order to get the customer to upgrade their product (Would you like two scoops instead of one?), add other optional purchases to augment their original product (How would you like a waffle to go with that?) and perform actions that would help your business grow (Would you like to sign up for our survey? You can get a free scoop of ice cream!).

Now that you have a better idea of what a funnel is, and how it could help your business, you can now consider how you could make your own funnel and improve your business.

How To Do Article Marketing Effectively

There are many ways to generate traffic to your website. I had always taught my students to use at least one paid and one free traffic method.  If I only have time to do one free traffic method, that it is going to be article marketing. This means that I will write articles and use them to promote my websites.

Article marketing is one of the easiest free traffic method. Remember that content is the king on the internet and people are always demanding for content.

However, please provide quality content so that your readers will benefit from it and go to your website again and again.

So how does article marketing works? Let’s go over a broad overview of the basics.

Article marketing refers to the writing of article and then distributing it on the internet with a link back to your website.

It actually involves a bit of branding, SEO and content syndication.

The content itself is very important and if you are able to write well and do it correctly, it can help to consistently bring traffic to your website for a long time.

One of my coaches had written more than a thousand articles many years ago and today, these articles are still bringing traffic to his website!

In addition, if your website is a content website such as a blog, it will be getting more backlinks and it helps in the ranking in search engines.

When people keep seeing your content on different sites, you are also starting to build your brand and reputation.

So why do you want to put articles on other people’s sites in the first place?

When you first started out, your website is probably very new and do not have much content and reputation. They are also not going to be ranked in the first few pages of the search engines.

Putting your articles on other people’s sites and then linking back to your own website can leverage on the site’s traffic.

In addition, you are also building backlinks in the process which slowly help to increase the ranking of your website.

Ultimately, you want visitors to visit your website.

So when someone reads the article on other people’s site and find that your content or idea is interesting, he may be enticed to visit your website. So after reading the article, he will click on the link that you had provided earlier and visit your website!

In order to do this, start of with finding your keywords and include them in your title.

The keyword should also be carefully chosen in order to maximize search engine traffic.

Next, start writing the article. Do your research and write at least 400 words. But please do not write too long as most readers on the internet do not like lengthy content. The attention span is reducing every second he spends reading the article.

When your article is done, start approaching other sites’s owners. Propose to them that you like to contribute to their website content. Do take note that you should preferably find sites that are in the same niche as your website. So that the traffic that goes to your website are already interested in your niche.

Once they accept your request, you can send them the article and remember to include a link back to your website.

Do this consistently and you will be able to reap the benefit of article marketing.

What You Should Know About Your Competitors

In order to grow and expand your online business, not only should you know the inside out of your targeted audience, the next thing you should also understand is your competitors.

Then, you are able to formulate effective strategy to beat them and gain a bigger market share. This includes creating an effective SEO, keyword targeting plan, pricing and new product and services.

When you first started out, I always advise my students to keep it simple and take one step at one step. However, when you are more familiar with how internet business works and ready to scale your online business, it’s time to do a competitive analysis.

The online world moves rapidly and so does your competitors. While you should not be stressing out about it, you should always keep them in your mind.

So how can you understand your competition? Here are 3 key questions you should look into.

Question #1: Who are your competitors?

This is probably the most important questions on the list. Do you know who are your competitors? If yes, are you able to do a competitive analysis?

In addition, are they your direct or indirect competitors?

You need to know the answer so that you are able to differentiate yourself and offer an unique selling proposition (USP) to your potential customers.

It is best that you can get their pricing, strengths, weakness and positioning of your competitors.

This helps you to know where you stand and identify potential untapped markets. Hence, you have the potential to carve out a specific niche for yourself.

Question #2: What are your competitors’ primary keywords and how are they ranking?

If you are using a content website, it is very important to plan your keyword wisely.

Compare how do you stand and where can you gain an advantage over your competitors in terms of the keyword.

If you are nowhere your competitors in certain keywords, you might want to rethink your SEO strategy.

I recently did an competitive analysis of my competitors and keyword targeting and manage to rank for a few targeted keywords within days of implementing the change!

One of the services that I provide is Singapore Company Virtual Address and the website is ranking for several keywords now!

Question 3: How active are your competitors on social media?

One of the best ways to spy on your competitors is to subscribe to their content on social media.

This allows you to determine how aggressive are they and also provide insights to the direction of the company.

In addition, their activities might inspire new content idea, product or service and helps you to stay ahead of the competition.

If you are able to answer the 3 questions above, you definitely have a better understanding of your competitors.

Now, the truth is that they are also able to do the same. So make sure that you are always reviewing your analysis semi-annually or annually in order to be updated.

Take advantage of automated technology to track their activities. Create a plan to assess your competition and reassess your strategies and tactics.

There’s a lot to learn from the people that challenge you. Your competition may be the motivating force you need to take your internet business and website to the next level.
