Let’s keep it short and sweet, seeing as you know why you’re here now. :)

Firstly, let’s start off by going to your Ad manager. From here you can click on the Ad that you are looking for. Seeing as we are making Youtube Ads, you can select the video option.

After this, you will be brought to the next page.

From here, you will now put the groundwork that will go into your Ad. In this page, you will put the settings that would allow you to your Ad work the way it should.

The first filed is the name of the campaign, this should be quite self explanatory, just key in the name of the campaign. You can call it whatever you like.

After this, you will now set the type of video Ad that you would like. The easiest way for you to have your Ad running is to use the standard setting. However, if you would like to promote an app, or some Ecommerce item, you will be able to use the other two options.

Now you will have to choose between In-stream or video discovery Ads or Bumper Ads, if you need a refresher for what these terms are, you can always refer to the previous article here.
From here, you will choose the CPM and the CPV cost of your Ad. If you would like a better explanation of these terms, you can refer to this article here.

You can manually bid for Advertisers to show your Ad, or you can do it automatically.

Manual bidding is better if you would like to keep your costs low, or if you have a good idea of what you are doing as is. If you’re new, you can always start off with automatic bidding on other forms of Ads, but for Youtube you can only bid for Ads manually.

Before you proceed to the next page, take a look at the Advanced Delivery Methods tab. Under this submenu you can set your delivery method, targeted locations and networks.

One thing to note is that you will have to target your local area if you are running a brick and mortar business, or if you are offering services in an area.

There are a few other options, but we can ignore these for now, you can always learn more about them if you like at a later date.

In the next page, you can set the video that you would like to use as the Ad, and the bidding amount. Another feature of Google Adwords for Youtube is the ability for you to set a higher bid from your current bid for popular videos. A higher bid here would encourage people to use your Ad more often for popular videos. And a higher bid overall would make it possible for more people to see your Ad.

Targeting

Another key factor in the success of your Ad is it’s targeting. You will need to know how you can make your Advertising capable of reaching the right audience.

Without the proper targeting, your Ad will not be of much use. Before you target your audience, you will need to know what you can do with the Ad targeting.

Demographics and Interests

The two main settings that you can Adjust are the demographics and the interests that you will be targeting. With the many choices available, you will need to think long and hard about the methods that you can use in order to reach your audience.

You can consider the general demographics first. Who will view your Ad? If you’re selling makeup you will definitely target women from 18 to 40, and if you are selling gym equipment you would target men from 18 to 40 too.

Secondly, you can target the actual interest group that would be interested in your products. You can either choose from a list or search for an interest that you would like to use.

Examples

We came up with a few possible scenarios that you may be able to refer in order to get your Add off the ground. For Example, you can use the Sports and Fitness interest to promote a weight loss product, or an exercise guide to men from 18- 40. Alternatively you can promote a weight loss guide under Beauty and Wellness, to women between the ages of 18 – 40.

The possibilities are endless, its up to you to come up with your own Ad ideas and get to work making your Ad successful.

Youtube is the largest video sharing platform on the internet right now, and is constantly ranked in the top 5 websites visited on the internet. With this incredible amount of traffic, Youtube is able to serve Ads to nearly any demographic, any race, language, or religion; at any location, and at any time. Even the most obscure niches can be reached and advertised to. If you can think it, you can Advertise to it with a few clicks on Adwords.

How can you get your Ad on Youtube?

Youtube runs its Ads through the Google Adwords platform, with the same platform being used for multiple forms of traffic at the same time. With Google Adwords you can deliver your Ad to any of the platforms controlled by Google.

You can Add text Ads to searches, banner and text Ads to their network of Advertisers, or video Ads to their Youtube Ads in seconds with Adwords. But for this article we are focusing on just Youtube Ads.

Youtube has two forms of Ads, video Ads, and search Ads.

Search Ads

When you search for a video, a sponsored post will appear at the top of your search results, this is very much self explanatory, but what you may not know is that you can use such Ads in a targeted manner.

The same applies to banner ads.

Video discovery Ads cover the same full range of Adwords targeting options, and you can see your statistics in the same page as any of your other Google backed Ads that you ma also be running at the same time.

In Video Ads.

The second method is video Ads, these are Ads that are shown to the audience that you have chosen in the various Youtube videos that they may be watching.

In this category, you may have a few choices that you may use in order to promote your product or link.
You can consider having a 6 second Ad at the start of a video. These Ads are completely non skippable and are probably the most obtrusive and annoying Ad that you can have on a single Youtube video Ad.

The second option is an In Stream Ad, such Ads can be placed anywhere on the video, and can be skipped after five seconds of waiting. The benefit of using such Ads are the extended Ad length and the ability have the Ad placed in any point of the video.
